TotalAV vs Bitdefender
The most advertised antivirus against the best tested one. The first-year prices look similar; the second-year prices do not.

Our verdict
Bitdefender wins comfortably. TotalAV is a competent product with a beginner-friendly interface, but its model depends on a heavily discounted first year that renews around four times higher, with a cancellation flow that takes more effort than it should. Bitdefender posts better lab results, runs lighter, and its (also substantial) renewal increase at least buys you a top-tier product. If the TotalAV ad price is what draws you, buy it with auto-renewal off and a calendar reminder, or simply buy Bitdefender once.
“The most advertised name in the category, not the best deal. The product itself is competent (it uses a solid engine and posts decent lab scores), but the business model leans on a cheap first year that renews at four times the price. Fine protection, if you set a calendar reminder.”Editorial team, on TotalAV
“The best mix of protection, speed, and price in this lineup. Top marks at AV-Comparatives and AV-TEST again in 2026, noticeably light on system resources, and the suite features feel useful rather than bolted on. Watch the renewal price, like everywhere in this market.”Editorial team, on Bitdefender Total Security
