About G Data Total Security
G Data has been making antivirus since 1987 and still does things its own way. A dual-engine scanner, development and support entirely in Germany, and a public no-backdoor guarantee. AV-Comparatives tested it again in its 2025-2026 consumer rounds; the rating is on the lab’s page, linked below. The dual engine costs some performance, and the interface will not win design awards. What you get in return is rare in this market, a renewal price that looks like the first-year price.
G Data Total Security pricing
G Data Total Security costs $4.16 per month, or $49.95 per year on the Total Security (per year) plan. List prices on annual billing, checked on 8 September 2026; paying monthly usually costs more.
Every plan G Data Total Security sells, with the yearly price next to the monthly one.
Total Security (per year)
- Up to 5 devices
- Dual-engine scanning
- Renews at $34.95/yr
What G Data Total Security costs after the first year
G Data Total Security costs $49.95 for the first year and $34.95 a year from the second year on the Total Security, 1 device, 1 year plan, a decrease of 30%, exactly as the vendor's page prints it. Both amounts were printed on gdata-software.com when we read the page on September 8, 2026. Auto-renewal can be switched off in your G account; the vendor’s own instructions are on its support page.
At -30% this sits below the 58.9% median of the 9 vendors with a published renewal in our Renewal Price Index, and the first-year price lines up against every other suite’s entry price in the Price Index.

Independent lab results

AV-Comparatives included G Data Total Security in its Real-World Protection Test February-May 2026, published June 15, 2026. The lab asks for written permission before its ratings are reproduced, so the result is on the lab’s page rather than here.
AV-Comparatives: Real-World Protection Test February-May 2026“German thoroughness in software form. Two scan engines, a proper firewall, and a no-games price that barely moves at renewal. Heavier than the single-engine leaders and the interface is dated, but G Data is the honest workhorse of this list.”Editorial team, via AntivirusShortlist
